Congratulations to Surrey Heartlands for 1million milestone

Congratulations to Surrey Heartlands for 1million milestone

June 25, 2021

Huge congratulations to all of our colleagues across Surrey Heartlands for reaching 1million vaccination doses this month.

We’re extremely proud that our Surrey pharmacy-led vaccination sites, have contributed a hugely significant number of vaccinations to this tally. Well done all!

Picture shows Secretary of State Matt Hancock, name checking Superdrug in Guildford for “unbelievable work” in operating a vaccination clinic every single day for over 150 days – the longest constantly operating pharmacy site.

Watch and listen to the Secretary of State speak at a Sigma webinar  on 23 June. The piece starts at 4.30 and runs until 20:56 – Guildford is around 5.55

Community pharmacy continues to play an important and central part in Surrey’s response to keeping COVID-19 at bay and helping keep Surrey residents safe:

  1. Regular testing

Community pharmacies across the county still offer supervised asymptomatic testing (lateral flow testing) for anyone who does not want to, or cannot, test at home.

Supervised lateral flow resting is available at participating community pharmacies for those who do not want to to, or cannot test at home

How to get an on-site rapid lateral flow test at participating pharmacies

Anyone wishing to have an on-site rapid lateral flow test at a community pharmacy, needs to book beforehand via Surrey’s  online system. Residents and people who work in Surrey can book regular tests and can book up to two weeks in advance.

Anyone who is unable to book a test online, can call the helpdesk number on 020 8865 1952 (Monday – Friday 7.00am to 11pm, Saturday – Sunday 9am to 5pm, local charges will apply).

Lateral flow tests for people to use at home are also available from all pharmacies on a walk-in basis, without having to order online.

  1. Vaccinating

Over 500 community pharmacies have delivered over 5 million vaccines in England. Here is the community pharmacy Roll of Honour for across Surrey and Sussex – we are incredibly proud of their achievements, which has also included work at the heart of communities to combat vaccine hesitancy.

  1. Hands – Face – Space – Fresh Air

The basic public health messages that we have heard since the start of the pandemic are reinforced by community pharmacy teams. As community pharmacy remains accessible on a walk-in basis teams are acutely aware that reinforcing the importance of washing hands, wearing a face covering, keeping distance from others, and getting fresh air is the best way for them to keep themselves and their communities safe from COVID.

The latest Surrey COVID-19 intelligence summaries can be found here. A short report is published three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The full report is published weekly on Friday.

Current summaries show shows a further rise in case rates in Surrey, albeit with some local fluctuation.
