New Levonorgestrel PGD for EHC as from Sept 1st 2018
URGENT ACTION NEEDED: For the attention of all community pharmacies supplying Emergency Hormonal Contraception under the PGD for levonorgestrel – commissioned by West Sussex County Council
You will be aware that the Patient Group Direction (PGD) for levonorgestrel as Emergency Hormonal Contraception expires on the 31st August 2018.
We have been working closely with our Public Health Colleagues to get this revised and signed off in time where the new PGD has been developed and approved for use from 1st September. A copy of the approved PGD can be found on PharmOutcomes along with the associated service specification.
All changes in the NEW PGD, what you need to do now and over the next couple of weeks, plus the process for revalidation through the Declaration of Competence are explained in the CPSS webinar which can be watched on demand by registering at
All documentation relevant to the previous EHC PGD which had been in the ‘Red Folder’ will be updated and accessed from 1st September via the “Services” tab in PharmOutcomes, old copies of the ‘Red Folder’ should be destroyed after this date.
Hard copies of the signed PGD must be returned to West Sussex County Council by 21st September 2018 at the latest BY POST TO:
