David Clark    I am currently an independent contractor in Rudgwick, a rural village location with a dispensing doctors practice nearby. Prior to this I owned an independent pharmacy in Haywards Heath having been employed by Boots and Superdrug for a total of 23 years. During that time I managed a variety of Boots stores ranging from small village Community Pharmacies to large city centre stores. At Superdrug I was Head of Pharmacy and Superintendent Pharmacist, after having worked in the Commercial Department and regional management. This combination of major multiple management and independent ownership gives me a broad perspective of the challenges facing contractors of all sizes, and enhanced credibility to Primary Care organisations.     Top
Alan Salter   Following completion of my pre-registration year working for an independent with pharmacies in Richmond, Surrey and Knightsbridge I spent a few years as a Pharmacy Manager for an independent pharmacy in Shoreham-by-sea before joining Kingswood Chemists to work in Brighton. Shortly after the take over of the business by Lloyds Chemist I took up the opportunity to work as a franchisee for Moss Chemists (Unichem) and ran my own business for a while.Later I joined the Day Lewis group and returned to Shoreham-by-sea working as a pharmacist manager and getting involved with various roles including working as a Pharmacist Support Team member and LPC member. I live and work in my home town and my more than two decades in full time front-line pharmacy entitles me to be call myself a Community Pharmacist     Top
Karuna Askoolum   I started my pharmacy career from the grass roots – working as a Sunday healthcare assistant up to a pharmacist store manager within Boots the Chemists, and have remained with the company for ten years. I have always been passionate about pharmacy and been excited about the potential influence we can have on a patients health outcomes. Since qualifying in 2008 I have seen the profession adopt a more service lead position, and have been involved in several services trials both within the company and with the local commissioning group. Outside of work, my biggest passion is food – both the cooking and eating of it!     Top
Yola Barnard   I qualified as a pharmacist in 2000. Following a brief time working in the pharmaceutical industry, I joined Superdrug, and have been there ever since. In December 2005 I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Pharmaceutical Health Care at Brighton University. I have a long standing relationship with pharmacy as my parents have been pharmacy contractors for many years, and have always taken an active role in pharmacy.     Top
Katharine Cox   I have worked in community pharmacy since the age of 17 where I started as a healthcare advisor for Boots. I studied at Aston University continuing to work in pharmacy while studying and qualified as a pharmacist in 2008. Following my pre-reg at Boots Chichester I was asked to stay on and have been there ever since. I really enjoy having my regular patients who know me by name. I am a pre-reg tutor and take real enjoyment in training future pharmacists, healthcare advisors and dispensers. I also enjoy learning new services myself. I am also a Boots area forum rep for Chichester, Worthing & Brighton.     Top
Mark Donaghy   Mark Donaghy is the Professional Development Manager for the Waremoss Group of Pharmacies which is a Sussex-based chain of pharmacies including Kamsons Pharmacies in East Preston, Bognor and Crawley, Martins Pharmacy in Southwick, Meaby Pharmacy in Bognor and Eastgate Pharmacy in Chichester. Mark’s role includes being a Pre-registration training manager, attending AIM meetings and developing new services. Mark also works as a relief pharmacist in each of the Waremoss pharmacies across the county and beyond. He previously has worked as a Professional Services Pharmacist for Moss Pharmacy, as a Clinical Governance Pharmacist for Bradford South & West PCT and as a Practice Pharmacist for Hastings & St Leonards PCT.      Top
Kevin Headington     I am a CCA representative for Rowlands pharmacy.
I started my pharmacy degree late in life (I was 32!) studying at Brighton university. I graduated in 2007 and after a Pre registration place at lime tree pharmacy, I moved to Rowlands pharmacy in 2008, and have been here ever since! Our branch in goring is at the heart of the community, with many of our patients with in the mature age bracket, so having built up trust and a great working relationship with our surrounding gp surgeries, we know that our patient and customers coming in will get the best care.     Top
Sam Ingram     My career as a pharmacist for Boots has spanned 20 years from pre-registration through working in stores to my current role as Teacher Practitioner at Brighton University. Here I have the privilege to work with future pharmacists starting as undergraduates through to qualification and then into their pharmacist careers. I work closely with the Boots Regional team in West Sussex which enables me to engage and disseminate local information regularly to this leadership population in order to drive opportunities forward within the LPC geography. As a practising pharmacist I continue to work across a wide range of stores within West Sussex and have a working understanding of local services, including the current contract delivering NHS healthchecks to our target population.  I have had a close involvement with the training and support required in the set up of new services such as the community anticoagulation service in Brighton and more recently Bromley. I have a real passion for showing the benefit that community pharmacy services can bring to patients enabling them to live healthier within their locality and want to explore further opportunities for bringing services into primary care making them increasingly accessible to patients whilst supporting pharmacists to expand their clinical role and professional recognition.     Top
Gemma Staniforth   I am Gemma Staniforth and I am the CCA representative for Lloyds Pharmacy. I work for a branch of Lloyds pharmacy which is within a GP surgery where I have been Pharmacist Manager for 3 years. I completed my pre-registration year at Worthing hospital which involved spending time working at the PCT. This was followed by 6 months as a rotational basic grade pharmacist. Upon leaving Worthing hospital I was offered a position as a relief pharmacist for Lloyds in West Sussex and then I moved on to become Pharmacist Manager. In my spare time I enjoy running and I am a member of the Worthing Harriers.     Top
C J Patel   I have been qualified as a pharmacist for nearly 27 years. My experience has been in all sectors community pharmacy-independents, small multiples and large multiples. In the past I have been on the Crawley Professional Executive Committee board an also the Crawley Medicines Management Committee. I have recently been appointed onto the Crawley Practice Based Commissioning executive board. Outside of pharmacy I play badminton, and golf and also love reading.     Top
Nisheet Patel   I qualified in 1984 from The School Of Pharmacy. I travelled and spent many years as a locum until I bought my first and only pharmacy in Sompting in 1989. I am the present chairman of the Adur Pharmacy Group. I feel that I bring a strong representation to the LPC especially for the independent contractors, fully understanding their challenges and concerns. My hobbies include golf and cricket.    Top
Julia Powell Julia qualified as a pharmacist in 1993. She worked initially for Lloyds Pharmacy in a number of roles from Pharmacy Manager in Oxford moving up to Area Manager in East Sussex. On gaining a MBA she moved into the Professional Development Managers role for the South with Alliance Pharmacy. This involved the implementation and contract management of a number of private contracts as well as locally delivered services. When Alliance Pharmacy merged with Boots, she became the Regional Pharmacy Manager for the South East and then Area Manager in East Sussex. Julia now works for Paydens as a Professional Services Manager and is responsible for negotiating, tendering and delivering pharmacy services within the group.
Julia has been a member of Local Pharmaceutical Committees for over 12 years and represented pharmacy contractors on a number of other committees.     Top
Sanam Sarwar  I graduated from Brighton University in 2004 and completed my pre-registration training with Sainsburys. Since then I have enjoyed working in a number of different roles within community pharmacy working for the many multiples and various independent pharmacies. For the last 3 years I have been working as the Pharmacy Manager for Boots in Crawley. This role allows me to be at the forefront of patient care through the many services that we offer. My position also allows me to have good working relationships with the local surgeries and health care providers. I am now looking forward to playing a more active role in supporting pharmacy development as a LPC member.     Top
