Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group
The Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group is made up of 18 passionate community pharmacy Medication Safety Officers (MSOs) and has been in operation for just over two years now. Each MSO is from one of the largest community pharmacy chains, as well as one from the National Pharmacy Association to represent independent pharmacies.
The Group provides a forum for these community pharmacy organisations, competitors in a commercial sense, to openly share and learn from each other when things go wrong, as well as from other sectors and industries, so that they can collectively improve patient care and reduce harm. Over the last two years, they have made some real progress in driving safety culture and practice change across the sector and they have now set up a dedicated website www.pharmacysafety.org and Twitter page @PharmacySafety to promote their outputs.
The website provides further information about the Group and its members, and hosts a hub for their resources. It also features a new discussion paper on safer medication delivery services which they have just launched – please let them know what you think! If you would like any further information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or use the Contact form on the website.
