West Sussex community pharmacy colleagues come together for peer discussions and to hear about changes

September 11, 2019

More than 40 community pharmacy colleagues attended the annual meeting of contractors in West Sussex last night (Tuesday 10 September).

The annual meeting is an important event for the LPC to inform members of previous and future activities, and is required by the LPCs constitution.  After voting to approve the LPCs accounts colleagues heard about the changes currently affecting community pharmacy and took part in a peer discussions, an important part of revalidation which for many is due by 31 October.

Mark Donaghy, chair West Sussex LPC

Speaking at the meeting, LPC chair Mark Donaghy said: West Sussex LPC, through Community Pharmacy Surrey and Sussex, has supported contractors through a busy year, and will continue to do so”. He added: “the committee appreciated the financial difficulties that contractors face and that a reduction in the number of LPC meetings had contributed to a reduction in the Levy contractors will have to pay in 19/20”.

James Wood, chief executive officer for Community Pharmacy Surrey & Sussex added: “Our key priorities are representing, supporting and developing community pharmacy in West Sussex. We’re well aware of the pressures contractors are facing just now and are making plans to help you introduce the new Community Pharmacy Consultation Service and the new Pharmacy Quality Scheme.

The annual meetings for contractors in East Sussex and Surrey are due to take place next week on 17 and 18 September respectively. Click on the blue links for more information.
