NHS England has published guidance on the Quality Payments Scheme for the June 2018 review point which can be found below:

The guidance document considers the learnings identified following the November 2017 declaration, the validation procedures and the subsequent modifications that have been made to processes for the June 2018 declaration. It also clarifies the requirements for meeting the gateway and quality criteria, completing the June 2018 declaration process and where possible, the evidence required to meet the validation procedures.

The new guidance should be read in conjunction with NHS England guidance documents on the Quality Payments Scheme listed below which are available on the NHS England website:

  • NHS England – Pharmacy Quality Payments Gateway Criteria Guidance (published 23rd December 2016); and
  • NHS England – Pharmacy Quality Payments Quality Criteria Guidance (published 27th February 2017).

All three guidance documents can be found on the NHS England website.

PSNC resources

PSNC has published various resources for community pharmacy contractors to assist them with meeting the gateway and quality criteria of the Quality Payments Scheme:

A Quality Payments Scheme, which forms part of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework, was introduced from 1st December 2016 until 31st March 2018. As part of the interim arrangements for the first six months of 2018/19, it has been agreed that a further £37.5 million is to be invested into an extension of the scheme, with a June 2018 declaration. This declaration point will operate similarly to previous declarations and will continue to reward community pharmacies that successfully meet the quality criteria.

The interim Quality Payments Scheme 2018/19 – A summary of changes to the Scheme (March 2018):

The interim Quality Payments Scheme 2018/19 is largely like the Quality Payments Scheme 2017/18 except for a small number of minor changes. This PSNC Briefing outlines the changes that have been made to the Quality Payments Scheme.
