**IMPORTANT INFORMATION** National NHS England guidance re ordering of flu vaccines for 2018/19 flu season

February 6, 2018

Please find attached a letter from the national NHS England team regarding the ordering of flu vaccines for the 2018/19 flu season and NHS England South (South East) position statement

Some pharmacies/multiples will be handling this centrally, please check with your managers/head office to find out the company procedure for your pharmacy.

The national team is recommending the use of:

  • aTIV vaccines for those aged 65 and over
  • QIV vaccines for those aged under 65 in at risk groups

Please note: national guidance is that the use of TIV vaccines for the 2018/19 season is NOT advised for any patient group and so if you still have orders for TIV vaccines in place, the letter and FAQs advise how to change those orders.

In addition, national funding for aTIV and QIV vaccines will now be available.

Fortunately, the SE local office had already made local funds available for aTIV and QIV vaccines for 2018/19.
