Craig qualified as an MRPharmS in 1990 and then managed several stores for Boots The Chemists in Sussex and Kent before relocating to Somerset n 1999 and joining Moss Chemists fist as manager then as Area Manager and finally as Professional Development Manager. He returned to Sussex with his family in 2006 and worked as a community pharmacist for Boots UK in Bexhill on Sea. Currently he works in Hastings at the Pharmacy within the new walk in complex at Station Plaza. He has served on several Local Pharmaceutical Committees continuously for the last leven years in Kent, Somerset and now East Sussex. His interests include playing golf and tennis and drivin one of the two classic cars he owns.

Paul has spent the majority of his career working for large multiples. After qualifying with Boots in Winchester he spent 8 years in various management positions around the South East. After this he worked for Lloydspharmacy including periods as area manager, professional development manager and project manager. Two years a go he made the decision to work for a smaller more independently focused organisation and joined Waremoss as pharmacy manager in Peacehaven and in November ’09 became operations manager for the group. Paul was the treasurer for the old committee and was re-elected to this post in April 2010, working to ensure contractors’ levies are wisely used.

I registered with the Pharmaceutical society of New Zealand in 1990, and spent a couple of years as a locum/relief pharmacist, and pharmacy manager. I then moved to Australia, qualifying to register there. The beginning of my overseas experience as we called it.I worked a year in Moree, northwest NSW (outback). During this time I helped develop the three pharmacies in Moree, managing one and developing computer systems in the others. I then travelled extensively through Southeast Asia, Europe, and India. I arrived in England in 1994, obtained registration and began working as a locum for Paydens Chemists. In 1995 I took up the management position at The Warrior Pharmacy, which I am still happily in. During the early to mid 2000’s, I became a member of the Professional Executive Committee of Hastings PCT, a position I enjoyed up until the reshaping of the PCT’s. It was also during this period I became a member of East Sussex LPC.I enjoy living with my family in Hastings, sailing, camping, fishing and many other outdoor sports and activities.

After registration, Ian gained professional experience in both the community and hospital sectors, spending several years in each. A career change then followed when Ian joined the pharmaceutical industry working in firstly medical and latterly commercial oriented roles. Ian currently owns and manages a community pharmacy in the delightful village of Herstmonceux and is passionate about the worth of the independent pharmacy sector. His professional interests are varied ranging from specific areas of pharmacy practice to broader areas of business.

Nasim is currently an independent contractor and for the past 20 years she has been managing her own community pharmacy in Brighton and values the close
patient /pharmacist relationship that this offers. She started her career in hospital pharmacy before joining Boots. There, she held various positions, the last of which was as an Assistant Manager of the famous branch in Piccadilly -when this was still a 24 hour pharmacy!

Having moved down to sunny Sussex from Scotland when he qualified in 1988, Sandy managed several stores for Savory & Moore Chemists before taking on Parris & Greening Chemists, Hove, as Manager. When they were taken over by Lloyds Chemists, Sandy was given the District Manager role and was then promoted to Area Manager. In 1995, he joined Tesco Stores as Regional Pharmacy Manager for the South East of England, a role which he continues to hold. He is passionate about raising the profile of community pharmacy teams within the NHS and the opportunity to help his team develop their leadership skills.
Sandy has previously served on the LPC and during that time helped shape the strategy, promote cross-functional working within the local health authorities and worked to improve the operating structure of the Committee. In thinking about the work of the LPC, Sandy says, ‘If the extensive healthcare reform envisaged in the recent DOH Healthy Lives documents progress, we are in for a time of big change as contractors. In such circumstances it is important that all contractors work together for the benefit of our patients and I am keen, as a CCA Representative to see us speak with one voice and maximise the chance of influencing change to deliver better outcomes for patients.’

Julia Powell Professional Services Manager Paydens

Julia qualified as a pharmacist in 1993. She worked initially for Lloyds Pharmacy in a number of roles from Pharmacy Manager in Oxford moving up to Area Manager in East Sussex. On gaining a MBA she moved into the Professional Development Managers role for the South with Alliance Pharmacy. This involved the implementation and contract management of a number of private contracts as well as locally delivered services. When Alliance Pharmacy merged with Boots, she became the Regional Pharmacy Manager for the South East and then Area Manager in East Sussex. Julia now works for Paydens as a Professional Services Manager and is responsible for negotiating, tendering and delivering pharmacy services within the group.
Julia has been a member of Local Pharmaceutical Committees for over 12 years and represented pharmacy contractors on a number of other committees.

I am an independent contractor in Brighton & Hove. I qualified as a pharmacist 20 years ago and became a contractor 14 years ago. I have been through constant changes in those years including new pharmacy contracts, which apparently may change again and the introduction and abolition of the ‘exemptions’ to the control to entry. My interests in pharmacy are using our customer focus as pharmacists to ensure the survival and prosperity of community pharmacy’

With 10 years’ experience as a pharmacist manager with the The Co-operative Pharmacy, Sheetal is a highly motivated pharmacist with a real passion for healthcare and helping patients to improve their quality of life. She has achieved a clinical diploma and recently qualified as an independent prescriber from the University of Brighton. One of her favourite pastimes is cooking, keeping fit including swimming, yoga and playing badminton.

Bharat Chotai has worked as a pharmacist in East Sussex for over 30 years and is the Senior Operations Director of Kamsons Pharmacy which is a chain of 53 pharmacies of which 22 are within the East Sussex LPC area. Bharat has overseen Kamsons Pharmacy develop its pharmacies so that they have a strong professional focus and is keen to see the LPC engage with commissioners to safeguard existing services and extend the role of community pharmacy. He appreciates the concerns of independent contractors as well as those from multiples and regularly attends meeting of AIMp, the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies who he represents on the LPC.

Ragae Exander joined the LPC in February 2017.

I have done various management roles in that time with Boots, from the management of small Boots stores to a regional support role. Hello, I would like to introduce myself as the new Business Administrator for Surrey & Sussex LPCs. My role involves the general administrative support of the LPCs including arranging and attending meetings, updating the website and newsletters and being a point of contact and support for our pharmacies. My previous role was as an office manager and prior to this I was a Police Officer for ten years with Surrey Police. When I am not at work my time is taken up by my two kids and generally trying to keep up with their social lives.
